Lipo Protocol:
Fat Melting Without Surgery

5 min read · Awakened Skin + Body · North Miami Beach

Liposuction is one of the most performed cosmetic surgeries in the United States. It works — but it comes with general anesthesia, recovery time, compression garments, bruising, and the risk of fibrosis in the treated areas. For many people, the result they want doesn’t justify what it takes to get there.

Our lipo protocol is a non-surgical alternative that uses cold plasma energy to dissolve fat cells and tighten skin simultaneously — in the same session, with no downtime.

How fat melting with plasma works

The Fusion Plasma uses cold atmospheric plasma — ionized gas infused with argon — delivered through specialized tips designed for body treatment. At the cellular level, plasma energy disrupts the membrane of fat cells, causing them to break down and be naturally eliminated by the body’s lymphatic system over the following weeks.

At the same time, the cold plasma modulates mitochondrial function in the surrounding tissue — stimulating collagen production and tightening the skin as the fat reduces. This is the key difference from most non-surgical fat reduction methods: skin tightening happens alongside fat reduction, not as a separate treatment.

Most non-surgical fat reduction devices (CoolSculpting, for example) only address the fat. The skin is left to contract on its own, which doesn’t always happen. Our lipo protocol treats both simultaneously — because loose skin after fat reduction is a real concern, especially in areas like the abdomen, inner thighs, and upper arms.

What areas can be treated

The lipo protocol works on any area where localized fat accumulation and skin laxity are the concern. The most common areas we treat:

Abdomen and tummy — particularly effective for post-partum laxity, post-surgical fibrosis from prior liposuction, and stubborn lower belly fat that doesn’t respond to diet or exercise.

Inner and outer thighs — fat reduction with simultaneous skin tightening. The combination is important here because thigh skin tends to lose elasticity with age.

Upper arms — the area commonly called "bat wings." Cold plasma tightens while reducing volume, without the recovery time of brachioplasty.

Flanks and back — love handles and bra line fat respond well to the protocol, especially when combined with overall body tightening sessions.

Knees — inner knee fat and skin laxity is a frequently undertreated concern that plasma addresses well.

What to expect from a session

The treatment itself is comfortable — most clients describe a warm, prickling sensation that’s easy to tolerate. No numbing required, no needles, no compression garments afterward. Sessions typically run 45–60 minutes depending on the area being treated.

There is no downtime. You can return to normal activities immediately. Exercise can resume the same day.

Results are not instant — fat cell elimination through the lymphatic system takes time. Most clients notice visible changes starting around the 3–4 week mark, with continued improvement over 2–3 months as the body processes the treated cells and collagen remodeling progresses.

How many sessions are needed

This depends on the area and the degree of change you’re looking for. For mild to moderate concerns, 4–6 sessions spaced 2–3 weeks apart produces meaningful, visible results. For more significant reduction, 8–12 sessions may be recommended.

The lipo protocol pairs naturally with a Fusion Plasma membership — monthly sessions maintain and build on results, preventing re-accumulation and keeping the skin tight over time.

One thing worth knowing: the lipo protocol is not a replacement for significant weight loss. It works best for targeted areas where fat is localized and resistant — not as a general weight management tool. Clients who are within a reasonable range of their target weight see the best results.

Cellulite reduction

Cold plasma also addresses cellulite — the dimpled appearance caused by fibrous bands pulling skin down over fat deposits. The plasma energy works on the connective tissue, reducing the tethering effect while simultaneously improving skin texture and tone. Many clients treat fat reduction and cellulite in the same session.

Post-surgical fibrosis

One of the most impactful applications of the lipo protocol is treating fibrosis after liposuction. Fibrosis — the hardened, lumpy scar tissue that can form in areas treated with lipo — is a common complication that many surgeons don’t adequately address. Cold plasma breaks down the fibrous tissue, softens the area, and restores a smoother surface without additional surgery.

If you’ve had liposuction and are unhappy with the texture or evenness of the result, this is worth a consultation.

Who is a good candidate

The lipo protocol works best for people who are at or near a healthy weight with localized fat deposits that don’t respond to lifestyle changes. It’s also well suited for post-liposuction clients dealing with fibrosis, anyone who wants fat reduction without surgery or recovery time, and people who want skin tightening alongside body contouring — not just one or the other.
